
This text stems from the need to define the concepts of “clinical” and “health” in a way that is coherent with psychological practice. To this end, the medical definitions of both terms are taken as a starting point, in order to move toward a more suitable conceptualization within a humanistic approach that promotes an integrated perspective in the work of mental health professionals. The aim is to propose new ways of understanding psychological intervention in the clinical setting, seeking greater consistency across its various approaches and methods. The text also highlights the importance of recognizing each individual’s uniqueness within the therapeutic process, and of both the therapist and the client taking an active and responsible role in it.
